More Puppy Training
It was clear from the get-go that Leonie provides a professional service and has a brilliant way with dogs. Her advice and direction for my dog, Ghost, has been invaluable, and she’s always provided excellent written plans that are easy to follow and have given me a sense of confidence in managing my pup’s behaviour.
It’s also clear that Leonie really cares about each and every dog she works with and is very generous with her time and advice. You should look no further when thinking of someone to improve your relationship with your beloved pooch.
We got a puppy and expected everything would be easy, how wrong we were! I had expected a sleepy, placid, gentle bundle of easily trained joy – what we seemed to have was a mass of frenetic energy with sharp teeth and a mind of her own. When we were at the end of our tether and definitely the end of our training ideas we contacted Leonie. It was such a relief. Leonie showed us some straight forward techniques which meant we could communicate with the creature which was causing us so much concern. We now have a young dog who still has a mind of her own, but impresses everyone who met her as a 3 month old with how far she has come.
Australia Red Heeler with anxiety after surgery
Olivia is a 7 year old Australia Red Heeler who has gone through a few traumatic episodes in her life including surgery for a fractured ankle after a dog attack and surgery for a cancerous tumour in her left thigh. Following these incidents her behaviour became increasingly nervous to the extent that I was unable to walk her to the park. She would just sit down and refuse to move. On the occasion where we required a dog walker, she was unable to get Olivia’s lead on let alone go out of the house for a walk.
We had two wonderful sessions with Leonie to help us with the above issues. The first was with my partner to help us understand her behaviour and how to improve it. Leonie spent over three hours with us for the initial assessment and gained a full and detailed history from us. She was able to hypothesise why Olivia was behaving the way she was and how my human behaviour was feeding into it. Leonie was able to educate me on play activities and stimulating exercises for Olivia both inside the flat and out in the park to get her to feel calm and less nervous about walking.
Following the initial assessment, within a week, Leonie had written up a full report on her assessment of Olivia and provided us with work sheets on training activities that we can work on.
We followed Leonie’s advice and instructions to the word and within a week Olivia’s behaviour had improved. I am now able to walk Olivia to any park and she is one happy beast! Leonie followed our progress with telephone consultations which gave us encouragement that we were doing things right and answered any additional questions that we had.
She then did a further session with our dog walker on how to behave with Olivia to encourage her to go for walks during the day with a person who she was less familiar with. After an hours session, the dog walker reported feeling much more confident in handling Olivia and has strategies in place to ensure she can eliminate herself.
I can’t thank Leonie enough for her wisdom, patience and continual encouragement and dedication to train Olivia and rehab us owners! She was fantastic and highly recommend her.
Weimaraner with aggression issues around people
Leonie, Just wanted to thank you again for the advice you have given me so far, already I feel like I have a new dog. Last weekend we went down to Bath for the weekend for mums birthday with my aunt and uncle ( who are not dog people) We stayed in the Hilton for two nights and he was perfectly well behaved the entire weekend. We successfully visited the Christmas markets which were busy with people and ate in pubs and restaurants with Oscar all weekend.
This weekend for the first time visitors came whist he was in the garden, they sat on the sofa I let him in wiped his feet and then sent him to his bed to settle down. He followed all commands didn’t charge at our guests didn’t even go to sniff them. I would really love to continue training and join one of your classes in the new year if you would have us.
Dog with resource guarding issues
Leonie was professional, friendly and above all, very helpful when it came to our dog’s behavioural problems. Her advice and training finally allowed us to understand the reasons for his problems and begin to treat them. We were impressed with Leonie’s thorough, holistic approach to our dog’s behaviour, rather than just superficially fixing the problems. A few months on, our dog is better behaved, we have a better understanding of him and, most importantly, we’re all happier for it.
French Bulldog with fear of noise
I cannot thank you enough. I just wanted to update you on Nobby & his dislike of noise from the flat above. I took your advice & started working with him with interactive games & the difference is fantastic,he still is a bit unsure if there is a louder noise up there but if he goes to run I say get your toy & instantly the agitation goes he will also now sit on his bed with his stag bar having a good gnaw while they are walking around above so I think you were totally right on the boredom front for him. But again I just wanted to say thank you for your time and your great suggestions I really appreciate it.
Best regards Shelley

Help with Bassett Hounds
“We cannot endorse Leonie enough for the insightful straight talking advice we received from her in relation to behavioural issues we were experiencing with two of our gorgeous but very head strong basset hounds! Leonie’s analysis and suggested way forward was based on a thorough holistic review of the dogs behaviour, our living environment and our behavioural responses via a pre meet questionnaire followed by much observance and conversation with us. Leonie hugely impressed us with her knowledge and professionalism coupled with her clear passion and connection with dogs. We followed Leonie’s very clear directed advice and saw immediate improvements in behaviour for which we were so thankful! Leonie followed up on a number of occasions for updates which again illustrated her genuine desire to help and see positive change. We would absolutely not hesitate in contacting her again if needed!”

Advice to prospective puppy owner on buying litter mates
This lady recently lost her elderly dog and the family decided it was time for a new dog and to get a pup. They contacted a breeder who offered to sell them two litter mates. I was initially contacted by the lady about puppy training but advised her that owning two pups of the same age, let alone litter mates, was a very tall order and not advisable. I suggested she research the matter thoroughly and speak to more experienced breeders in the breed/type, before going ahead with purchase of both pups. This is the result:
After our chat last week regarding litter mates I did some internet research and contacted the sire’s owner. Thank you for your advice! We clearly had no idea what we’d have been letting ourselves in for.
I contacted the puppy lady and withdrew our interest for both pups. Instead we have adopted an adult Golden Doodle (retriever/poodle) from a charity which rehomes poodle cross dogs.
So we still need help with instilling some house rules. The new dog pulls a bit on the lead and we would like help in improving his recall.
Dog with resource/nervous aggression
T has been great. We took on board all the advice you gave us and he has responded amazingly well. He hasn’t growled when he eats for ages and he’s been really good with the leave command. He picks it all up so quickly.
So all is wonderful.
All the best
Training a rescue dog from Sri Lanka
Our dog, Scamp, was a rescue from Sri Lanka and so had many natural inbred instincts, but this reward-based training really worked! In fact, by the end of the course, I actually managed to get her to leave a live mouse which was running across the ground! My husband and I learned so much about what you should and shouldn’t do when training a dog and it has increased my confidence with her too. We really can’t thank Leonie and Chris enough for all their help and advice and we are so impressed with Scamp that we are definitely taking her on to do bronze!’
Thank you also for your kind words about how well we and Scamp have done. We could not have done any of it without you and your patient guidance, so our sincere thanks! It really has made a huge difference, particularly for me as I was really rather nervous about taking her out on walks etc. Both our sets of parents (who are dog people) have also noticed the change in her
Stressed rescue Staffy
I just wanted to say thank you so much for your great advice on our rescue staffie cross and for your very kind follow up call – really good of you to help us out. We took him to Battersea as you advised and they were really good. We are exercising his brain a bit more and trying to keep things nice and calm. They advised that he is still a bit stressed so we’re setting good clear boundaries which he is responding to well. We have also taken your advice on hiding his food rather than bowl feeding and he loves it! A much happier dog so we are hugely grateful for your guidance.
This young dog had developed a strong dislike of her harness, being touched around the tummy while grooming, and had started to nip.
“Thank you Leonie for your help with Leah’s harness training and for your subsequent useful follow up written guidance. Your advice was very clear and easy to follow and you were extremely patient with us. Leah’s tolerance of the harness has definitely improved and we are continuing to follow your recommended approach. Your support and tips at the training club are also much appreciated. I would be very happy to recommend you to anyone needing some expert and friendly behaviour and training advice for their dog”.

Bassett hound/beagle cross – aggressive behaviour, resource guarding and coprophagy
I am very impressed with Milo’s progress, we have had a lot of visitors due to summer holidays and Milo has been great. At first he is vocal and a bit bouncy, but no aggression shown. Meal times have improved, all round a better dog. He has shown a form of trust and calms down after the excitement of people arriving.

Staffordshire bull terrier – general training
Leonie has worked closely with us and Sid, our 14 month Staffordshire bull terrier, for over a year now. I have found Leonie and her training methods to be brilliant, her instructions are always clear and easy to follow. She has endless patience and her advice always makes perfect sense. She has given me untold advice about Sid and for me the most important things have been learning how to read Sid’s body language and having a good recall. Leonie has taught me to be consistent in my training, being as I have a large family and for us all to work together.
I still find it amazing to watch Leonie with a troublesome dog and I have yet to see a dog not do as it is asked. My Sid is growing into a lovely social dog. I would highly recommend Leonie and her method of training.

Chihuahua with aggressive behaviour
Leonie helped me enormously to train my lovely but very wilful Chihuahua! He was
rehomed with me at eight months and had lots of behaviour and aggression
issues. Leonie was patient, sympathetic but firm and has a holistic approach to dog training which included training me as much as my dog. My dog is now much more obedient, much less aggressive and we are all much happier. I would have no hesitation in recommending Leonie, she has a wealth of knowledge
and experience to share and is excellent in her field. Thank you Leonie!
